A member of SAC served as an executive with MedReleaf and was tasked with the successful resolution of a complex labour relations issue involving the UFCW.

The UFCW made a complaint against the Company under the Agricultural Employees Protection Act (AEPA) alleging multiple contraventions of the Act.

The primary complaint was dismissed in August of 2018 by an EAPA Tribunal due to the SAC member’s innovative use of the AEPA labour relations framework to identify the UFCW’s failure to bargain in good faith and under the AEPA’s guidelines.

Confidential Agricultural Company
Crisis-management leadership and resolving labour relations issue

Ontario-based Confidential Agricultural Company (Livestock) engaged a member of SAC to provide crisis-management related to a workplace fatality as well as multiple Covid-19 outbreaks among agricultural staff on dozens of poultry farms across the province.

In addition, the Company required support to manage an active unionization attempt.

SAC member represented the Company throughout multiple investigations by the Ministry of Labour as well as multiple regional Public Health Authorities. SAC member developed and implemented a comprehensive union-avoidance strategy.

No charges laid against the company following workplace fatality.

Successful handling of multiple (12+) Covid-19 outbreaks without any company violations or penalties.
