Howard Steinberg MBA, CFA

Mr. Steinberg and his team specialize in expert operational advisory and restructuring services, serving both private and public companies and their stakeholders across diverse industries. Their comprehensive approach supports businesses navigating critical transitions, including adjustments to capital structure, management realignments, ownership changes, and operational transformations.
He has served on numerous boards and committees and has held positions as Chief Restructuring Officer and CEO in both public and private companies, operating within and outside court protection. His past roles include Managing Director at Fortress Investment Group and RBC Capital Partners, President of The Rose Corporation, and Head of Canadian Distressed Lending at GE Capital. He holds an MBA from the Ivey Business School and is a CFA Charterholder.
Adam Marcus CFA

Mr. Marcus has over two decades of experience in originating, evaluating, and executing leverage finance, M&A, private equity and capital market transactions. Mr. Marcus was previously the CEO of Avanew Inc., Canada’s leading Single Family Rental asset manager. Mr. Marcus has held senior positions at DRI Capital, Macquarie Capital, and Bank of America. In these roles, Mr. Marcus developed a wide range of expertise in transaction sourcing, structuring, valuation, diligence, and execution. Mr. Marcus holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in International Business and Finance from McGill University and is a CFA Charterholder.
Gary Margolis B.Sc., J.D.

Mr. Margolis has over 25 years of experience operating companies and evaluating, structuring, negotiating, drafting and executing finance, M&A, private equity and capital market transactions. Mr. Margolis was previously the CEO of Notogen, Inc., a biotech company that raised over US$16M and executed a worldwide partnership with a global pharmaceutical company. Mr. Margolis also held senior positions at DRI Capital, including as Managing Director, General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer. Prior to that, Mr. Margolis practiced M&A, securities and banking law at Simpson, Thacher & Bartlett in New York, Dewey Ballantine in London and Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt in Toronto. Mr. Margolis holds a Bachelor of Science degree and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Toronto.
James Andrews

Mr. Andrews has over 15 years of global experience in the fields of commercial cultivation, ranging from indoor hydroponics to large industrial agriculture projects, as well as consumer packaged goods (CPG) product manufacturing, taking projects from facility design through to product commercialization. He has a deep understanding of the logistics involved in bringing products to market in a timely and cost-effective manner. He joined the Steinberg Advisory Team in 2016, playing a critical hands-on role in many successful restructurings both within and outside of court protection.

Mr. Werth has over 15 years experience as a highly skilled operational leader. He leverages his military service to help organizations drive efficiencies in people, processes, and systems. With a background in Software Engineering, Mr. Werth has led diverse teams, from small scale software start-ups to large production facilities. Mr. Werth oversees a diverse portfolio of advisory and restructuring responsibilities, including day-to-day operations, strategic projects, and team development.
Pete Shearer

Mr. Shearer is a seasoned professional with 19 years of experience in brand development and commercial strategy for both public and private companies. He has successfully developed and managed strategies for top brands across various sectors. In 2020, he was recruited to the role of Senior Category Manager for the Ontario Cannabis Store (OCS) to lead the buying efforts of the world's largest cannabis buyer. Subsequent to that he joined the Steinberg Advisory Team leading all sales and marketing efforts across advisory and restructuring mandates leveraging his extensive experience in regulated and non-regulated markets.

Mr. Linden contributes over 25 years of leadership and brand management experience, including roles at some of North America’s largest luxury brands. Mr. Linden has brought a wide variety of products, services, and brands to market with successful results. He has held a variety of executive positions, including: Head of Trade, CMO, and CEO. Mr. Linden is an experienced board member and has extensive operational restructuring experience.

Mr. Elbaze has over 15 years experience in highly regulated manufacturing industries, excelling in senior quality roles and assisting food, beverages and cannabis companies in obtaining and maintaining federal licenses. He joined the Steinberg Advisory Team in 2018, focusing on restructuring Quality & Compliance departments by emphasizing performance, sustainability, stress tolerance, and continuous improvement. As a board member of the Quebec Association for Microbiologists, he remains committed to excellence in the field.

Mr. Fleming is an HR executive, HR consultant, and corporate director with extensive experience across a variety of industries including biotechnology, CPG, transportation, NGOs, and SaaS. In addition to operating Maxton HR, he serves as a board member for Grandbridge Energy. Mr. Fleming holds a BA from the University of Guelph, a Post-Graduate Certificate in HR Management and a Certificate in HR Law. He is a certified HR practitioner in Canada and the United States, possessing both the Certified Human Resources Executive (CHRE) and SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) designations.

Vanessa is an accomplished senior finance leader with over a decade of experience across a variety of industries, both public and private. She has held key leadership roles, including Director of Finance and Accounting at Organigram Global, Director of Finance/Head of Finance at Wainbee Limited, an Engineered Systems Solutions Provider Company and Accounting Manager at MedReleaf Corp.
Known for her strategic mindset and hands-on leadership approach, Vanessa has a proven track record of transforming finance functions, building high-performing teams, reducing risk and driving operational efficiencies. Her expertise includes financial reporting improvements, SOX-compliant internal control design, cost optimization, M&A integration and a strong cash flow management.

Mr. Maharaj is a dynamic investment banking professional with expertise across financial modelling and executing complex capital market deals. He previously held the position of Investment Banking Associate at ANSA Merchant Bank gaining transaction experience across various sectors including energy, real estate, financial services, and Sovereign debt issuances. Mr. Maharaj holds a MEng. in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College London and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
